Detroit, Michigan May 9, 2005 Accompanied by more than a dozen volunteers, Freman Hendrix and his wife, Elaine, file petitions to official enter race for Mayor of the City of Detroit. Over the past 6 months, campaign volunteers collected more than 18,000 signatures from residents in support of his campaign.

"I appreciate and thank all of the volunteers who worked diligently throughout the winter months collecting signatures and talking with residents about my candidacy," said Hendrix. "I am also encouraged that residents are embracing my plans to get Detroit back on track."
