To Date, Hendrix Has Conducted More than 130 Home Meetings

The Blount Family's home was the location of mayoral candidate Freman Hendrix's latest home meeting, a campaign activity that has served as a very important component of Hendrix's campaign.

In preparation for his bid for mayor, Hendrix began conducting home meetings early last year. To date, Hendrix has conducted more than 130 home meetings -- sharing his ideas about reducing crime, economic development, education and city management with small groups of 15 - 20 neighbors, friends and family. Hendrix says that one of the main purposes of home meetings is to gain feedback from residents.

"Home meetings provide me an opportunity to share my ideas in more intimate settings," says Hendrix. "They allow for a more meaningful exchange about the primary concerns that residents have about the current condition of our city." 

For the most part, after he announced his candidacy for mayor back in January, Hendrix significantly reduced his home meetings activity and started hosting town hall meetings around the city. In place of the home meetings, campaign volunteers began conducting DVD meetings to continue introducing the candidate in small home settings. Volunteers deliver a brief introduction, show a DVD about Hendrix and then answer questions about the candidate.
