I believe that the best ideas for how to fix Detroit come from the people who live and work here. That's why I've spent the past year speaking with thousands of Detroiters from all across our city – in backyards, churches, living rooms and community centers. These “Home Meetings” are the centerpiece of my campaign. In 2004, more than 100 Detroiters invited me into their

homes to meet their family, friends and neighbors and to discuss the challenges facing our great city. These small, informal and intimate meetings of 15 to 25 people provided me with an opportunity to interact with more than 3,000 citizens.

Those who host or attend a home meeting can expect an open honest exchange of information. In addition:

1. Detroiters are encouraged to discuss a broad range of issues critical to the future success of our city.
   
2. Detroiters are able to get acquainted with my professional experience, my commitment to public service, and dedication to putting Detroit back on track.
   
3. Detroiters have the opportunity to share ideas and information about the issues directly affecting them.

As a result of each meeting, our campaign for Detroit's future continues to grow by gaining advocates, supporters, and volunteers. To date, I have participated in over 200 home meetings.
